The Teaching Practice Office (TPO) at UNISA is an academic administrative office in the College of Education. The office is committed to ensuring that all the registered student-teachers are placed in their respective schools where they choose to do their teaching practice and are professionally supported by Supervisors (Associate Tutors).
How does the Teaching Practice Office support student-teachers during their practice period?
The TPO trains Mentor Teachers to monitor and guide students during their practical period.
The TPO trains Supervisors (Associate Tutors) to visit, assess and professionally support student-teachers during their practical period.
Duration for Teaching Practice period for specific module codes and programmes
5 weeks per module for a Bachelor of Education (BEd) ( Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, Senior Phase and FET).
10 weeks for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (5 weeks for Senior Phase and 5 weeks for FET)
