Purpose statement: Studying accountancy at postgraduate level enables learners to become skilled at and discover the various causes of successes and failures of different business enterprises. Studying accountancy, learners will acquire the skill to analyse, record, classify and summarise the context in a significant manner in terms of money available and transactions. Learners will interpret results of these transactions and financial events. The Postgraduate Diploma: Accounting Sciences integrates the study of the theory and current practice of accounting with research and computer applications. Learners will observe, investigate, and identify problems through testing and collecting data using different methods, draw conclusions about the data and communicate to the relevant stakeholders. This qualification leads to entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences. The qualification is also useful if a learner is interested in a career in Finance, Operations and Product Control within the financial sector. |

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
Pre-requisite: If Module A is a pre-requisite for Module B, you must pass Module A before you may register for Module B.
You may not register for more than the allowed maximum number of credits / modules per academic year and / or semester: 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year.
The maximum number of credits do not include supplementary and / or aegrotat examinations from a previous semester. Modules taken for non-degree / non-diploma purposes also count towards the maximum number of credits allowed.
