Rules: It is a requirement for students who intend on registering for this qualification to already be professionally qualified as a teacher. This Advanced Diploma is not a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and, therefore, is not a teaching qualification. NB: This qualification will not be recognised by the Department of Higher Education and Training should you NOT be in possession of an approved 4-year professional teaching qualification. It is a requirement that students enrolling for this qualification, should have also completed Computer Integrated Education at least up to 2nd year level (NQF Level 6). The Advanced Diploma in Computer Integrated Education is a further specialisation qualification. Its purpose is to further enhance an existing specialisation in Computer Integrated Education. Teachers who are already professionally qualified to teach Computer Integrated Education as a result of holding a Bachelor of Education degree with a Computer Integrated Education, will NOT be recognised by the employer for additional salary purposes or for an additional REQV level. It is the responsibility of the student to consult with the relevant Education Department districts or Provincial Education Departments on how to upgrade to additional REQV levels. |

Purpose statement: The primary purpose of the qualification is to provide a learning pathway enabling teachers who have completed a Bachelor of Education (BEd) (or an Advanced Certificate in Teaching (ACT)), which will have focused on developing their Information Communication Technology (ICT) skill, knowledge and attitude, to deepen their understanding of how to teach and integrate ICT effectively into the entire school curriculum. This qualification develops and consolidates in an integrated way appropriate disciplinary, practical, pedagogical and situational knowledge in using ICT and ICT integration in teaching and learning. Foster self-reflection on the teaching of content knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and integrating ICT in teaching and learning. Promote and develop the dispositions and competences to use ICT and integrate it in all school subjects. The qualification will therefore seek to: ユ Provide learners with a deeper understanding of technological, pedagogical and content knowledge for the teaching and the integration ICT in the entire curriculum. - Apply theories and in Computer Integrated Education relevant to school curriculum. - Expose learners to strategies and methods that will enable them to use ICT in their pedagogical practices. - Demonstrate competence to integrate ICT effectively in teaching and learning. - Develop learners' skills in designing, developing and facilitating ICT integrated learning environments. It is envisaged that learners who achieve the Exit Level Outcomes will become innovative in the field of Computer Integrated Education (CIE). |

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
Pre-requisite: If Module A is a pre-requisite for Module B, you must pass Module A before you may register for Module B.
You may not register for more than the allowed maximum number of credits / modules per academic year and / or semester: 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year.
The maximum number of credits do not include supplementary and / or aegrotat examinations from a previous semester. Modules taken for non-degree / non-diploma purposes also count towards the maximum number of credits allowed.
