Matete Madiba is Deputy Vice Chancellor: Student Development & Support at the University of the Western Cape and an Associate Professor in Education. She previously served as Deputy Director: Education Innovation and Director: Student Affairs at the University of Pretoria. Her work focuses on higher education transformation, student success, curriculum innovation, leadership development, and technology-enhanced learning.

She has led projects on curriculum analytics, online elections, and a mental-health bot, and hosted the first Student Success Conference. She chaired UP’s Institutional Transformation Committee, co-developed its Curriculum Transformation Framework, and previously chaired HELTASA. A SAASSAP leadership award recipient, she mentors researchers, led the Girls for Girls project, contributes to JSAA, serves on the CHEC Board, and collaborates with international universities.
