Prof Thabo Msibi
Deputy Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning and Professor of Curriculum Studies

Thabo Msibi is Deputy Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning and Professor of Curriculum Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He earned his Master of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge.

His scholarship includes publications in South African and international journals, as well as the book Hidden Sexualities of South African Teachers: Black Male Educators and Same-Sex Desire. He co-edited Gender, Sexuality and Violence in South African Educational Spaces. Prof Msibi serves as Associate Editor for The Oxford Encyclopedia of Gender and Sexuality in Education. Recognized with numerous awards, including the NRF P-rating and the HSRC Young Scholars Medal, he was appointed to the sixth Umalusi Council in 2022.
